Johanna Gunawan
Assistant Professor of Computer Science and Law, Maastricht University Law & Tech Lab
Dr. Johanna Gunawan is an Assistant Professor of CS+Law with the Maastricht University Law & Tech Lab. Her research focuses primarily on the design of digital technologies + law/policy, particularly on dark patterns in UX, and the privacy/surveillance implications of common technologies. Her work has been presented before American and European regulators and enforcers, and published in both computer science and law venues (CHI, CSCW, PETS, CSLAW, Internet Policy Review, US law journals). Dr. Gunawan earned her PhD in Cybersecurity at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, and holds a B.A. in Political Science and International Affairs from Northeastern. She has formerly worked in the networking and cybersecurity industries in technical writing roles at Akamai and Rapid7.
